Andreas von Weizsäcker | Hangover

The site-specific installation by Andreas von Weizsäcker (b. 1956 in Essen – d. 2008) was created as part of the art project “In the Noise of the City – Ten Installations in Downtown Hanover” in 1991 and was permanently installed two years later. The temporary project was part of a series on art in public spaces initiated by Lothar Romain; it was organized by the Sprengel Museum Hannover with support from the Lower Saxony Foundation and marked the first targeted exploration of interventionist art in Hannover. Over the years, the work has become a permanent visual feature of the elevated highway—and, together with it, an ironic monument to the 1960s vision of a car-friendly city. The work is owned by the artist’s heirs. » Location: Raschplatz (under the Raschplatz elevated highway)
